Like you, Mike, I have been using Retrospect for years with great success. However, I had an unfortunate recent incident with Retrospect that, combined with eroding service and higher prices, are making me consider other applications. I had a complete backup of my Jaguar boot drive that I made immediately prior to a Panther "Archive and Install" installation. It became clear that the Archive and Install was not going to work with a couple of my applications, so rather than try to clean up the mess, I thought, "why not restore my backup and do an upgrade install to solve the problem". So, I proceeded to do that. Formatted my disk, restored my full backup, and my computer would not boot from my main drive. I upgraded over the top of the non-booting Jaguar system and it fixed most of the problems, but one of the reasons I have always used Retrospect is that I could always be sure it would backup and restore correctly. I have not yet upgraded to version 5.1 (more cost for marginal functional improvements), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Does anyone know if 5.1 fixes the problem I describe? I would really like to use Retrospect, and nothing I've looked at does everything that it does, but I have to be sure I can trust it. Does anyone have some good experiences with Carbon Copy Cloner doing daily incremental backups that they can relate here?
