Install Log Alternative?

I have been using a utility called "Installer Observer" to keep track 
of changes to the directories of various drives and to try to make up 
for the lack of Install Logs with some programs. It's a great program 
but does not record the complete contents of a brand new installed 
folder the way an Install Log does. The author suggested a simple 
Apple Script that might do the job more completely. Does anyone know 
of an Install Log Apple Script?
