Hey, What you should be on the lookout for is damage to the system files or other directory damage. If you find Disk First Aid (CMD-F to find files) try running a check on his boot volume. Damage to the directory structure has always caused massive slowdown. But I don't see what can really be causing that much of a slowdown in MacOS9 unless there is serious damage to the operating system. Hopefully Disk First Aid can repair any damage but you might want to consider moving your friend to MacOSX. CJ
