[G4] Another kind of OSX Mail problem

I've had this problem on two 10.2.3 machines - be following this thread with
interest....
I get 'password refused' (meaning the email account password) despite the
fact it's correct and the account accessible from all my other 'puters...
I've checked the configuration a lot and everything seems fine...
