Will a newer graphics card work in an old G4?

I got an ATI Rage 128 from a blue and white G3 and use that in my late-2000
G4 to run my second screen. Advantage is it uses the Apple ATI drivers and
works fine in OS X Jaguar. My Formac ProFormance had to go as it caused
Jaguar to restart randomly. I also recently bought an AGP Radeon to replace
the main screen card and that rocks too - quartz extreme support as well.
