display squished

hello all

I have a mac G4; running 9.2.2.  My monitor is suddenly displaying
everything in a squished mode so that everything is elongated; and on the
desktop items are placed beyond the width of my display.  For example my
font as it appears in this program is about 4 point type.

I ran discwarrior but that did not seem to help.

Could someone please advise.
