Try booting up with the Command-S keys pressed down. This will boot you into a text based single user mode. Then when everything is booted type "fsck -y" this will run a utility to fix any problems on your MacOSX drive. After that just type "reboot" hit enter and your machine will restart normally. If that doesn't work, run ASU and after it crashes open up your console window.(~/application/utilities/console) You should see an error message of why it core dumped.
