oooohh now you asked for it!  A Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live:mac.

It was Mac-compatible like a virus is Mac-compatible.  Warmed-over 
windoze hardware; messed up a lot of stuff.  "You don't need this other 
audio hardware, You've Got A Sound Blaster". The installer literally 
said that.  Quicktime (even MIDI!) got messed up and my internal audio 
went away.

That was the only time I was successful in getting Compusa to take back 
an open box for full credit.
