Have you talked about this problem with,"OrangeMicro USB/Firewire card Manuf."
I read about this problem somewhere last year .... They got a fix from 
"OrangeMicro.?
I have a Pwr Mac G3 desktop ... Install Newer TEch Procc. card, added 3ea. 
256 Ram cards and added 80Gb. IBM drive no problems .... To add the HD I 
disconnected the Apple Rom drive ... Hooked my Ibm HD to the Rom Drive 
connectors and then transferred all my files from the old HD,Then replaced my 
old HD with the IBM 80Gb drive with all my files on the new IBM drive .... 
Everything just works great.. no problems at all ...
