Perform an "Archive and Save" installation. This choice is available during 
the installation procedure - look for it in the windows that appear during 
the installation.

This will duplicate the old "Clean Install" option that was available with 
certain key strokes in OS-9 and below.

After doing the "A&S" install, you will be back to the OS version that is on 
the installation CD that you use and you will have to go through all the 
upgrade installations again to get to where you want to be. BUT, this is 
better than having to lose all your data and installed software by 
re-initializing the drive and starting over from square one.
