I've been using Mail since it first appeared and have never previously 
run into this kind of problem even when sending images. I'm afraid 
being forced to use Netscape as a work around in order to regain what 
formerly worked for me is one option I would decline. Thanks anyway,

I still don't get it for I can't see how I can change anything that 
needs to be changed.
Maybe I should bring Apple into the picture (?).
