Well, I network via ethernet (by way of my router) and I can definetly tell you that OS9 and OSX do not network reliably together. OSX to OSX is very fast and reliable. But mixed (9 to X) the connection drops and it takes hours to move what takes minutes X to X. Not sure this is your explanation - but it's what I know. jj On Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at 10:59 AM, Power Macintosh G4 List wrote: > Networking > Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2003 09:28:24 -0400 > > 2 computers > 733 G4 > 12in G4 laptop > 8 port 10/100 Netgear hub with uplink port, comcast cable modem > FileSharing on the 733 turned on > The network path: > Cable modem/Netgear uplink port > 733 plugged into one of the open netgear ports > G4 laptop also plugged into an open port on Netgear > > When connecting to the 733 from the G4 laptop file transfers are very > slow. > Was going to take 10 hours to copy 1 gig of info. > Decided to connect the 733 and the laptop via a direct connect via > Ethernet, > the transfer took about 2 minutes. > > Anyone have an explanation?
