I upgraded my G4 Cube from 500mHz to 1.4gHz, then used it to encode and burn a 2 hour DVD using iDVD. It took about 7-8 hours to fully encode and burn the DVD. I don't know the exact time because I left it running and went to sleep. This was imported footage (from iMovie) from a VHS tape that I had imported using a firewire bridge. The DVD was burned on an external firewire LaCie 2x DVD-R drive. The resulting DVD plays great in my home DVD player. I'd guess you'd see similar results with a CPU upgrade, as the Cube and your 400mHz AGP-based G4 are similar in most respects. -Hal On Apr 15, 2004, at 5:46 AM, michael Vogt wrote: > Have any of you tried to encode any video with the new processor I > had done some with Toast 6 in the DVD part with my 400 it took about > 12 hours for 1 hour imported Digital 8 video.
