dvd problem

G4/PCI Yikes--Pioneer 104 DVD-RW--OS 9.2.1

I reinstalled the system and lost the proper DVD software for this setup.  
An error says the hardware can't be found and suggests reinstalling the DVD 
software.

I spent two hours trying to play a movie using various combinations of 
extensions and dvd players.  Does anyone know the proper versions and where 
I can find them?  Apple doesn't seem to offer any help.  Thanks.
