[G4] Migrating to G5

I've gone ahead and taken the plunge and ordered a G5. My dilemma is how 
to transfer my data and settings to the new computer. One scenario I've 
contemplated is taking the boot drive out of my G4, putting it in a 
Firewire enclosure, booting off the drive on the G5 and using Carbon 
Copy Cloner to overwrite the G5's boot drive. Is this scenario feasible? 
The OS on the G4 is a retail install of OS 10.3.6, so theoretically the 
G4 drive should boot the G5 (right?) I do have some non-Apple hardware 
installed on the G4 (M-Audio Revolution 7.1 and Sonnet Aria Extreme), so 
that might complicate the issue. Any insights or suggestions would be 
welcome.
