[G4] New to list and considering a 2002 G4

hi.

i'm fairly new at using a mac.  i used one in college in an art class
creating a digital mural and i worked on one as an editor of a magazine.
i'm in the process of buying a mac to use at home for the purposes of
creating short (eventually feature is the plan) films and photography.  my
friend who is a music producer is selling his mac.  it's a 2002  G4 dual 450
mgHz processor the hard drive has 40 gigabites it is equipped with a cd
burner, player, dvd RAM cartridge, internet keyboard and has the ability to
put 9 gigabites on 1 bit.  he's selling it to me for $700.  since i don't
know to much about macs, i'm curious as to whether this is a good price for
what i'm getting and what i need.  any help would be very useful in my
decision process.  thank you.
