Use ebay to compare the prices. You and your friend should be able to adjust to market value as say, 3 or 4 sales of comparable hardware averaged out. Opinion: Dual 450 may seem a bit slow to work with DV but not bad to start with. 40 gig is small but it's easy to install a second inexpensive HD. CD burner is good to have and DVD RAM drive is good for personal storage but probably will not work in your DVD player on the TV - you will need to check into that though. Apple DVD RAM drives were not compatable in the beginning - maybe that has changed. jj On Sunday, January 4, 2004, at 01:59 PM, Power Macintosh G4 List wrote: > New to list and considering a 2002 G4 > Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2004 10:50:29 -0800 > > hi. > > i'm fairly new at using a mac. i used one in college in an art class > creating a digital mural and i worked on one as an editor of a > magazine. > i'm in the process of buying a mac to use at home for the purposes of > creating short (eventually feature is the plan) films and photography. > my > friend who is a music producer is selling his mac. it's a 2002 G4 > dual 450 > mgHz processor the hard drive has 40 gigabites it is equipped with a cd > burner, player, dvd RAM cartridge, internet keyboard and has the > ability to > put 9 gigabites on 1 bit. he's selling it to me for $700. since i > don't > know to much about macs, i'm curious as to whether this is a good > price for > what i'm getting and what i need. any help would be very useful in my > decision process. thank you. > > sincerely, > > ymasumac
