the problem many have reported with getting a brand new video card for an aging computer is that the processor in the computer cannot "feed" the video card enough data to make its extra power usable. This is actually easily tested as low resolution FPS are mostly limited by the CPU and high resolutions are limited by the GPU (video processor). For instance, my 867 with a Geforce3 video card is already CPU limited. <sarcasm>I honestly think a Radeon 9800 would only be worth it in a 400 or 500 mhz mac (non-dual) if there was some way of off-loading normal processor tasks to the GPU, 'cause the GPU in the 9800 is probably just as fast as the G4 in those machines... </sarcasm> seriously, if a GF3 in a 867 was already CPU limited, how much more so would a 9800 be in a 500 mhz G4?? that being said, if a CPU upgrade or a computer upgrade are seen in the near future (3-4 months) it might be worth it, though beyond 3-4 months, and you will probably see prices changes/card changes in the ATI line. my 2 forint, sandor
