Pioneer DVR-103

Hello,
I purchased a Pioneer DVR-103 for $20.00. I was told that it might, or might not work.
I have a G4 Yikes, PCI, running OS 10.3.2 with 512 ram.

I installed it internally. I can burn CD's with Toast and iTunes, have not tried a DVD. If I put a DVD in, the DVD icon will show up on my desktop. I put a CD in, in about 90%, no icon will show up. If I burn a CD and remove it from the drive then put it back in, then the icon will be there.

Also I can no longer open the DVD player. I upgraded to Panther about the same time that I put the drive in so I am not sure if it is the drive or the software?

Any ideas or help?
