G4 newbie, migration Qs

hello G4 list members.  i'm new to this mac list but on several others

i'm looking to migrate to a G4(or two) within the next 6 months or so and
had a few migration Qs

my current primary MAC: (also have a backup 8100 similarly configured)
- 8100, w 300Mhz G3, 264M, 21" supermac monitor(fixed freq), dual 17G
SCSI-2, MACOS 8.6, UMAX 2200 scanner(SCSI/USB), HP 870Cxi AppleTalk printer
- s/w used, Microsoft works 4.0, Office 98, mozilla, outlook express

initial migration Qs:

- will i be able to use the the 21 " super macs(fixed freq) monitors on a G4
??  i've heard some adapters (griffin) may be available.  are they any good
or is it time for a new monitor

- will MS WORKS run in native mode of X.3 ?? or is a migration to appleworks
suggested

- any other migration pitfalls seen with above environment
