OS X (Panther) drivers for Epson Expression 636 Pro scanner?

Help?

Have searched in vain for OS X drivers for Epson Expression 636 
Professional scanner (SCSI) on my G4/933 Quicksilver: Use necessitates 
restart in native 9.2.2 (does not function in classic mode), which is 
tiresome at best.
 Reluctant to invest significant sums for Vuescan or LaserSoft's 
Silverfast, and am contemplating acquiring a new Perfection 4870 Pro...

Any assistance and/or enlightenment would be greatly appreciated!
