Barb, How you use it will determine what machine you would be most happy with. If you travel a lot with your computer, let me tell you from experience that a pound or two in your shoulder bag makes a big difference. If you are going to use it mostly as a desktop replacement, then you should probably go with the bigger screen. There are practical limits on weight when you have a screen as big as 17". To make it rigid and rugged enough to survive virtually guarantees that it will weigh more than smaller counterparts. I wouldn't count on significant weight reductions.
