USB2 PCI cards

Hello everyone -

I'm a new subscriber to the list, having just bought a g4 1.25 dual-processor
(wanted what me become the "last of the last" OS 9 bootable Macs).

Of course, it has USB1.1 built in, but I would like to add USB2 capabilities
for OS X, which I'm experimenting with at this point).

Checking around, I see many "generic" USB2 PCI cards, with various chipsets on them.

I remember that with Firewire, having the right "chipset" could make a big
difference in how well the device performed, or even whether it worked at all.

Having said that, I was wondering if anyone has tried installing a generic
USB2 PCI card into the g4, and how well it worked?

Any particular chipsets (such as "VIA", etc.) to "look for" when picking a
card? Any to avoid?

With OS 10.3.x, no additional drivers are necessary, is that correct?

Thanks,
- John
