I read an article that said CDs should be stored on edge, not flat, and not stacked one on top of another. I have archive CDs in individual clear plastic cases, flat, in safe deposit box. Is this a problem? Won't fit any other way. Old copies are stacked in the carousel-thingy I bought the CDs in. I figured since you buy them this way, it can't be too horrible. I would throw away these old CDs (I backup about every two months on CD, put new backups in safe box and put old backups on spindle on side table) but my thought was if I make a mistake on my current backup or a CD corrupts, I might want to go back to one of these old ones. They are not as important as the archives at the bank. What do you all do? I also backup data every day or so on an external hard drive.
