First, make a list of third-party hardware, then check the manufacturer's support site, <http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/>, or discussion lists, for info on compatibility. Then make a list of software you _have_ to use, and check the developer's support site, versiontracker, or discussion lists for upgrades and compatibility. It's not practical to check every piece of third-party software prior to upgrading. As a general rule, updates (e.g., v10.2.3 -> v10.2.8) are unlikely to break anything major; upgrades (e.g., v10.2.8 -> v10.3.3) are more likely to cause problems. <0x0192>
