For those who need to have things spelled out in detail-- (1) Most people have lives and professions; they contribute to discussion lists as a hobby. They don't have the time to read or write long messages, involving several issues not necessarily closely related. A concise message, dealing with one question, is significantly more likely to be read and answered (especially by someone who knows what he's talking about) than a long one containing many questions. (2) Currently, the only content descriptor for an e-mail message is the subject line. The subject line of a message containing many different questions has to be less specific in order to cover all questions, and that makes it inefficient as a content descriptor. In other words, it doesn't fit the format well, and makes retrieval of information more difficult -- for everybody, yourself included. You can take this as friendly advice that will help you to use this resource -- the discussion list -- more efficiently. Or you can take it as arrogant posturing. Guess which is going to be of more benefit to yourself. <0x0192>
