Dear Jamie; Hopefully the Quicksilver will boot one more time, although it cannot boot to the hard drive. I ordered the FireWire cable from Mac connection overnight, so I should be able to test it tomorrow night. I hope this will work and save me the grief of trying to remove the hard drive, install it as a slave drive, and then replace it to ship the machine back. Wish me luck! :-) Valerie Written with Dragon Naturally Speaking 7.3. If it doesn't make sense, I probably missed a correction. -----Original Message----- From: g4-bounces at listserver.themacintoshguy.com [mailto:g4-bounces at listserver.themacintoshguy.com] On Behalf Of Jamie Pruden Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 6:41 PM To: A place to discuss Apple's G4 computers. Subject: Re: [G4] trying to extract data Hi Valerie, If the QuickSilver can still boot, you can start it up with the "t" key held down... this will boot the machine as a firewire drive. Plug it into your new machine and you can copy stuff off it with little difficulty. smiles, Jamie --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
