Like the others have said just run the Disk Utility and format the drive. I
use Carbon Copy Cloaner as a backup program and clone my Primary HD (the
Seagate) to my BackUp HD (a Western Digital).  Works great

Richard... I've got a G4 733 QS  I'm going to need to upgrade my hard drive 
pretty soon also. The old school way of formating a hard disk used to be 
partioning the drive into recognizable chunks like drive 1 would be 128 GB & 
drive 2 would be 72 GB. Does that not work anymore ?
