I have just done the same thing, with (nearly) the same results [except disks in neither drive were recognized]. Upon further review, Pioneer's installation instructions state that the new drive is shipped with jumper cable in Master position. I presume the original SuperDrive which came with the MDD is also set at Master. I changed the new SuperDrive to Cable Select (position 3); now both drives are recognized and the doors open in the correct order. >I just installed my new Pioneer DVR-109 in the lower optical drive >of my Mac G4 1.25mhz Mirror Door.
