[G4] Beige G3's and USB

Hi,

I have 2 beige G3's.  One is a 333 tower and the other a 266 horizontal
tower.  Both have USB cards in them and both of them seem to freeze from
time to time.  Sometimes, just the USB stops working.  I have read that this
is often related to certain USB cards.  Do I need a specific USB card for
these machines in order for this not to happen or is there just a USB
firmware upgrade or software required to resolve this issue?
