Yes, I downloaded the firmware update listed under the Panther chart for that machine, and when I tried to install it - it said it was already the latest update. Would placement of memory make a difference? I have a new 512 chip from OWC in one slot on one end and a 128 in the first on the other end (4 slots - with the chips in the outside slots). All the memory is recognized. Linda In a message dated 1/4/2005 8:38:35 PM Central Standard Time, jim.pacyga at earthlink.net writes: Linda- Did you put the firmware upgrade on the machine? G4 Sawtooths need a firmware upgrade in order to accommodate Panther. If you don't have at least Boot ROM revision level 4.2.8 f1. (check System Profiler for ROM version). You can download it from Apple.com/support. jim On 4 Jan 2005, at 13:39, Polkadoter at aol.com wrote: > Just acquired a 500mhz G4 Tower. (I think that might be a Sawtooth). > It came with 9.1.
