You are correct, in order to use the SATA drive to full advantage you need a SATA PCI adapter card. I say full advantage because they sell a plug in adapter to use SATA on your ATA bus, but that would be silly, it would slow down the performance. The PCI/SATA adapter cards are easily obtained and are priced from $25 up depending on brand and where you purchase.
