I recently upgraded my Sawtooth 400 APG. I added a Gig of Ram ($160)
(total RAM now 1.2), put in a Superdrive ($140), and upgraded the
processor with a sonnet 1.2 Ghz G4 ($260). Total upgrade cost me about
$575.

I opted for an upgrade for a number of reasons. The first reason was
money. By upgrading in stages I could enhance my performance a bit at a
time without wiping out my wallet. Second: I already have 2 monitors
and 2 - 120 Gig hard drives installed. SO for me it was silly to get a
Mac Mini. The Mini just doesn't have what I need for my work. I need to
run 2 monitors and I always run an extra hard drive for backup
protection. For me to buy the Mini with the extra RAM and external hard
drive. wasn't worth it. It just would have cost me about a couple of
hundred more for a small increase in performance.

All-in-all I'm very happy with my decision. I used Xbench to benchmark
the performance of the APG upgrades verse my new iBook 1.25 Ghz with
768MB of RAM, and I'm happy to say the score of the Upgraded APG won
hands down.
