[G4] g4 sawtooth freezes

Isn't there a contradiction here? Does your G4 (i.e., the Mac OS X) 
"freeze" -- or do Firefox and MS Word? If the latter, then there's no 
point in shutting down the system. If the former, then what have those 
two apps got to do with it?
