Wow! for less than $129, you can install a second HD and use something like ChronoSync (shareware) to back up as much of the contents as you want (directory-by-directory) in the still of the night. RB 6.0.204 seemed to work with Tiger, on both my G5 and G4 as long as journalling is turned off and you are backing up to a external hard drive, but had problems with with some tape drives.
