Hello,
Try going to disk utility and mounting the drive. I recently  
installed an scsi drive in a b&W running 10.3.9, and I had to mount  
the drive using disk utility. I mounted it once, and now  it mounts  
by itself on restart. It does show the eject symbol in the finder  
sidebar, which looks a bit odd.
