DiskTracker effectively takes on extended Finder functions.
Therefore you have to be careful in what you do with the cataog  
created by  DiskTracker eg if you Delete files that you are not 
interested in such as System files, then they will be deleted on that 
volume.

If you are looking for an application to catalog your files, I have not 
found one that does the job.
If you are running Tiger, then might find Spotlight useful.
