The whole point of a clone with SuperDuper is that it is bootable. Of course USB would presumably slow things down, maybe too much, others would know better than me. But in the event of a catastrophe I fully expect to boot from the external drive and then use the copy of SuperDuper there to clone in the reverse direction. I actually have 2 external drives both with bootable clones on them as an insurance policy. I am unlikely to loose 3 drives all at once, and if an external drive expires I still have a working bootable back up while I get a new external drive. I follow the recommended procedure from SuperDuper which is to clone in preference to making a disk image. They point out that making a disk image is slightly less reliable, and should be used only in special circumstances > > If I SD clone the primary to the external backup drive then remove the > cloned drive and install the inside the G4 should it then boot? That is my understanding of the SuperDuper information. Why not contact them in order to clarify some of these issues. They are friendly folk. Tony http://www.tonyjohansen.com A Life Of Art
