[G4] Networking with linkysys wireless

I have a Linkysys wireless network with a G4 connected via airport and a
windows machine connected with a USB point. When I attempt to make the
network secure with WEP logon, the G4 will not connect although the many
year-old windows machine remains happy ... Advice, simple please, as I am
not a networking wonk.
