EASY! I can tell you for sure that the Pioneer DVR-110 series will work just fine. It is a one-for-one replacement of your existing optical drive. I get mine from newegg.com. Last time I looked, they were in the $40-$50 price range. A great place to find repair/take-apart manuals for your Mac model is at: http://www.whoopis.com/computer_repair/. Or from Apple: http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/. The one most helpful clue is that fitting the replacement drive into your Mac might go a lot easier if you remove the face plate (requires pressing two tabs, one on either side, as I recall, to release the face plate); this does not affect the operation of the drive, just makes it easier to fit into the Mac. I have replaced mine twice (successive upgrades) in my Quicksilver 2002 G4. I am running the DVR-110 right now, and it is recognized as a Superdrive. --Steve At 3:41 PM -0600 2/15/06, TmB wrote: >Any one change out the optical drive? I know many regular optical drives for PC are not bootable for macs but how can i tell?
