I assume that " when we insert OS 9 " means the OS 9 install disk. If so, then check the disk and make sure that it's clean as a whistle and doesn't have scratches, run a lens cleaner on the computer's CD/DVD device, and pop the disk in, launch Disk Utility, and do a checksum on the disk (Images->Checksum). If none of that works, then report back.
