I've never seen an adapter like you describe (FW to USB 2.0). Depending on what cards are in your slots, you may have options. For example, if one of your cards is another ATA controller, you could get a multi-function ATA controller that has USB 2.0 ports on it, like the Tempo Trio (ATA-133, firewire and USB 2.0 ports). I picked one of these up cheap and it'll be my solution when I get my Digital Audio G4 up and running with a CPU upgrade. Depending on what you cards are, you may be able to consolidate some of them onto a single card and free up a slot.
