jim,

did this happen after you upgraded to itunes 6.0.2? it
happened to me and has been reported at http://xlr8yourmac.com

>>I didn't have applejack installed on this 10.3.9 system, but did
>>run DIsk Utility's Repair permissions on a PB G4 w/10.3.9 that had
>>the QT and iTunes updates applied yesterday. The first try at
>>repairing permissions resulted in a problem - dialog popped up
>>saying it had "lost a connection with the Disk Management Tool and
>>cannot continue". I quit DU and tried again - after a minute or so
>>(about 1/4 thru the progress bar) the same thing happened. I then
>>rebooted (no other apps running) and tried again - same error. Even

>>Maybe my problem isn't related to the updates at all (it's been
>>awhile since I've done any maintenance on that drive...) but if
>>anyone else has seen a problem like this let me know.

so what worked for me was removing itunes 6.0.2 and going
