Status Update of the patient: While awaiting arrival of the correct disks, I found that a friend of mine is a closet Macophile. He has a powerbook g4 and offered to let me try his hardware test disk. No dice there my brothers. He also offered me his #1 rebuild disk that has OsX 10.3. That disk appeared to install normally, although the resulting installation is not stable. It will not wake from sleep (It goes comatose. Lights are on but the video doesn't do anything) Then I have to press the little button inside in order to shut it down to reboot. When I do that, The $#@!%& machine loses its mind and forgets it has a hard-drive and optical disks and everything for several cycles of P-ram and NV-ram resets. Then it fires up just as neat as you please. I have disconnected the drives and will not play anymore until the correct disks arrive. In the meantime, I am kind of enjoying playing with Linux. I don¹t know how to play music or Movies, but I can surf and play some of the many games that came with the installation. I conclude the patient is still viable and with the correct software and/or firmware can be loaded with an Apple operating system. Failing that, it will be a Linux test mule. PS. Is it a mistake to have two optical drives in this unit? When I got the Superdrive, I just put the original CD/RW in the bottom bay. Just don't know how to access it yet.
