Apple endorses > it, as > long as its own cables are used. Nothing is wrong with Cable Select when using 80 wire cables, as Cable Select is part of 80 wire cable's spec. The "problem" is that 40 wire cables existed before cable select so there's no guarantee any given 40 wire cable will implement it. Phil
