[G4] Prohibitory sign

Hi all.
I recently got a used iBook G4 1.2 GHz. The problem is, I only got the 
laptop and not the Install CDs. I borrowed a set of Install CDs(10.3) but 
when I start up from the CD the Apple icon changes to a prohibitory icon. I 
am looking for any advice possible. I would like to purchase new install CDs 
but not sure if this will not happen again.
Any advice welcomed.
