Steve - I might be able to help a little with your advice query. Replacing the CD drive with the Pioneer 111D is about as easy as it gets. I am nervous when entering the guts of my Quicksilver, and I did the same replacement in about 15 minutes, including time to calm the butterflies in my gut. Try the OWC website for very detailed ( with step-by-step ) photos of the install procedure. I also looked at the sweet multiport, but was informed by the dealer - who is a top flight Mac mecahnic that " it uses the a jumper from your built in firewire and usb. You end up with more ports total though but are relagated to the built in speeds." I can't speak to your USB 2.0/FW 800 question as it relates to OS9. Hope that helps, jay SLarsonIH at aol.com wrote: > Hi Listers, > > A couple of questions... > I have a first gen QuickSilver that will get a dual 1.8GHz upgrade in the > near future, In the meantime, I plan to replace the CD drive with a Pioneer 111D, > a FW/USB2 card and a Sweet Multiport. > > So, my questions are: Has anyone done any of this?
