Just to avoid confusion this is normally called a "jumper".

This is all documented at Apple's site, which the original poster  
should have checked before asking questions of the list. Officially  
the Digital Audio G4 does not support cable select. I'd be surprised  
if this is actually true, as Apple would have have to have gone out  
of their way to make this happen on this late a model of G4, but I  
don't have a DA G4 to test.

adding a new drive. It took me less than a minute to find it using
