You need to read the Patchburn FAQ, this issue is covered by it. (It's  
not very long.)

While the DVR-111 is not an Apple labeled drive, most - if not all -  
people find that non-Apple labeled internally installed Pioneer drives  
are seen by OS X as Apple Superdrives which work with iLife  
applications. This means that even without Patchburn I would expect  
the DVR-111 to work with iDVD. The best place to check is http://www.xlr8yourmac.com 
, which has a hardware compatibility database based on actual user  
installations. I'm sure you'll find information on the DVR-111 there.

The DVR-109's being sold by OWC are Apple drives, so compatibility  
should be as claimed by OWC.
