If the 160 is newer then it could be all or any of the previous  
answers plus any other advances that have been made in drive  
technology since your bought your Mac.

Get xbench from http://www.xbench.com/ it's a pretty simplistic test,  
but it makes for a good sanity check on drive performance and the  
rest of your hardware.
